DIY Gifts to Make Mum at Home

Handprint Flower Bouquet:

Materials Needed:

  • Coloured card
  • Washable paint in various colors
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Begin by painting the children’s hands with different colors of washable paint.
  2. Carefully press their painted hand onto the construction paper to create handprint flowers.
  3. Once dry, cut out the handprint flowers.
  4. Arrange the handprint flowers into a bouquet and glue them onto a piece of paper or cardstock.
  5. Encourage the children to write messages or draw additional decorations to personalise their bouquet.

Customised Picture Frame:

Materials Needed:

  • Lollipop sticks
  • Glue
  • Paint and paintbrushes
  • Assorted decorations (such as buttons, sequins, beads)
  • Printed photo of your choice 

Instructions:

  1. Arrange the popsicle sticks into a square or rectangular shape to form the frame.
  2. Glue the popsicle sticks together to secure the frame.
  3. Let the children paint the frame in their favorite colors and allow it to dry.
  4. Once dry, let the children decorate the frame with assorted decorations.
  5. Insert the printed photo of the child with Mom into the frame.
  6. Optional: Encourage the children to write a sweet message on the back of the frame.

Coupon Book of Acts of Kindness:

Materials Needed:

  • Coloured card
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Stapler or hole punch with ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Cut the construction paper or into small rectangles to create coupons.
  2. Encourage the children to brainstorm acts of kindness or helpful tasks they can do for their mum or caregiver..
  3. Have the children write one act of kindness on each coupon and decorate them.
  4. Once all the coupons are decorated, stack them together and staple them at one end or punch a hole in the corner and tie them together with a ribbon.
